Dear friends of Safe Community Safe Kids: We need your help. After months of effort, the Legislature passed a bill to repeal medical marijuana. The Governor vetoed it. The Legislature then passed a bill, SB423, which highly restricted the marijuana industry. Marijuana advocates filed a lawsuit in district court to stop SB423. The District Court Judge temporarily struck down the pertinent parts of the law, leaving us with a shell of a law that actually protects the marijuana industry. The pro-pot supporters are currently circulating a petition to suspend the law entirely and put an option on the November 2012 ballet to overturn SB423. Should this measure pass, it would put us back to where we were before the Legislature even met. So far, the pro-pot people have raised over $70,000. We are eager to continue this fight, through education, canvassing, advertising and polling—whatever means are available to us, and all of which require financial support. Without your help, our hands are tied. Donations of any amount would help. Please don’t delay; we are all in this together.
